Environmental Policy
At Southport Workwear, we are proud to be a small, local business based in Southport, creating high-quality custom embroidered workwear, printed workwear, and sublimated uniforms for trades, builders, hospitality teams, and businesses across the UK.
We recognise that our operations — from garment selection to in-house printing and embroidery — have an environmental impact. We are committed to minimising this impact, operating responsibly, and supporting sustainable practices wherever we can. Our goal is to provide great-looking branded workwear while doing our bit for the environment.
Our Key Commitments
We will always:
- Comply fully with all relevant UK environmental laws and regulations, including those covering waste, packaging, and chemical use in printing/embroidery processes.
- Follow the waste hierarchy principles: prevent waste where possible, minimise it, reuse materials, recycle responsibly, and dispose of any unavoidable waste safely.
- Continually review and improve our environmental performance as our business grows.
Sustainable Practices in Our Operations
- Materials & Garments — We source quality workwear garments from reputable suppliers and aim to offer options with sustainable features (such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, or bluesign®-approved fabrics) wherever practical and available.
- Waste Reduction — We carefully manage inks, threads, threads offcuts, and garment scraps produced during embroidery, printing, and sublimation. We recycle paper, cardboard, and plastics from packaging where possible, and work to reduce single-use materials in our workshop.
- Energy Efficiency — We use energy-efficient equipment in our Southport facility, switch off machines and lights when not needed, and monitor energy use to keep consumption as low as possible.
- Responsible Processes — Our in-house printing and embroidery methods are designed to minimise chemical waste and water use. We handle and dispose of any hazardous materials (like certain inks) in full compliance with regulations.
Supporting Our Customers
We encourage our customers to:
- Choose durable, high-quality branded workwear that lasts longer and reduces the need for frequent replacements.
- Recycle or responsibly dispose of old uniforms and packaging according to your local council guidelines.
- Consider eco-friendly garment options when placing orders — just ask our team for available sustainable choices.
If you have used or end-of-life branded items you’d like to recycle responsibly, feel free to get in touch — we’ll advise on the best way to handle them.
Looking Ahead
As a growing local business, we will keep working to make our processes greener — whether that’s through better waste management, more energy-saving steps, or expanding our range of sustainable products. We believe small, consistent actions add up, and we’re committed to playing our part.
