The 3M Peltor X4 Headband Ear Defenders are built for protection against moderate to high industrial noise and other loud sounds. A redesigned spacer, specially formulated foam liners and new ear cushions work together to improve attenuation.
The earmuffs are lightweight and low in profile, so they sit more easily alongside other personal protective equipment. The over-the-head wire headband is electrically insulated, with its metal parts covered in non-conductive material for use around low voltage electrical hazards below 440 V ac.
Key features
- Redesigned spacer, foam liners and ear cushions help improve noise attenuation
- Lightweight, low-profile earcups help with compatibility with other PPE
- Wire headband applies consistent pressure over long wearing periods, keeping the seal steady through a shift
- Earcup pivot points tilt so the cups follow the shape of your head for comfort and an effective seal
- Electrically insulated (dielectric) headband for use in low voltage electrical hazards below 440 V ac
Materials and performance
Electrically insulated wire headband, with the metal components covered in non-conductive material. Earcups fitted with specially formulated foam liners and ear cushions.
Standards and protection
Certified to EN 352:2020 with an SNR of 33, and rated NRR 27 dB and CSA Class AL. 3M notes that the NRR may overestimate protection in typical use and recommends reducing it by 50% when estimating noise reduction.
Electrical insulation
3M had the headband evaluated at an external laboratory using a modified test method based on EN397:1995. Leakage current stayed at or below 1.2mA when the outer surface touched an electrical source. You should assess the overall suitability of the earmuffs for your application, taking into account any hazards beyond noise.
Care
