Straightforward returns

Returns and exchanges made simple

Workwear needs to fit properly and do the job you bought it for. If a plain item is not right, our straightforward returns promise gives you 30 days to request a return or exchange — whether it was held in our stock or ordered specially for you.

Buy with confidence

The Southport Workwear Promise

We want ordering workwear online to feel as straightforward as buying from us in person. Our returns policy is designed to give you time to check the fit and make a sensible decision.

30 days to decide

Tell us within 30 days of delivery or collection if you would like to return or exchange an eligible plain item.

Plain items treated alike

The same promise applies whether an item was already in our warehouse or ordered from a supplier for you.

First exchange sent free

You pay to send a change-of-mind item back; we send your first replacement by standard delivery at no extra charge.

No restocking fees

We do not deduct a restocking or handling fee from an eligible return. Faults and mistakes are put right at our expense.

Buying for a business? Our 30-day promise applies to eligible plain items whether you are buying as an individual or on behalf of a business. It is an additional commercial promise and does not reduce any legal rights that apply to your order.

Before sending anything back

What can be returned or exchanged?

You are welcome to try plain garments on as you would in a shop. Please take reasonable care of them and keep everything together until you are sure.

Eligible plain items

  • Returned in a clean, unworn and unwashed condition
  • Not altered, embroidered, printed or otherwise personalised
  • All original tags, accessories and packaging are included
  • Footwear has only been tried on indoors on a clean surface
  • The footwear box is undamaged and has not been used as the postal box
  • Sealed hygiene-sensitive goods remain unopened

Items we cannot accept for change of mind

  • Embroidered, printed, personalised or altered items
  • Items that have been worn for work, washed, marked or damaged after delivery
  • Goods missing essential parts, tags or packaging where this affects resale
  • Opened sealed goods that cannot be resold for health or hygiene reasons

Faulty or incorrect? These exclusions do not apply when an item is faulty, not as described or we have made an error. Please contact us and we will put it right.

Three simple steps

How to make a return or exchange

Contact us before sending the parcel so we can confirm the details, help with an exchange and identify your return quickly when it arrives.

2

Pack the item carefully

Include your order number and contact details. Use suitable outer packaging, remove old courier labels and do not attach tape or labels directly to a footwear box.

3

Post it or bring it in

Use a tracked service and keep your proof of postage, or return the item to our Southport store during opening hours. Please send it within 14 days of contacting us.

What happens next

Exchanges, refunds and return postage

We check returns promptly and keep the process clear. If anything is likely to take longer, we will tell you.

Exchanges

Once we have checked the returned item, we will arrange the requested replacement. If the new item costs more or less, we will contact you to settle or refund the difference. Supplier availability means some replacements may take a little longer.

Refunds

Refunds are made to the original payment method. We normally process them within five working days of receiving and checking the return; your bank or card provider may then need additional time to show the credit.

Postage

For a change-of-mind return or exchange, you pay the cost of sending the item to us. For an eligible first exchange, we pay standard delivery for the replacement. If goods are faulty or we sent the wrong item, we cover the reasonable return cost.

Original delivery charges: if you return a complete consumer order bought online, by phone or by mail, we will also refund the standard outbound delivery charge where required by law. Any extra amount paid for a premium delivery service is not normally refundable.

Embroidery, print and alterations

Customised items are made for you

Once a garment has been embroidered, printed, personalised or altered, it cannot be returned because you have changed your mind or selected the wrong size. This is why we ask you to check garment sizes and approve the artwork before production begins.

Before production starts

If you need to cancel or change a customised order, contact us immediately. If production has not begun and the garments have not otherwise been altered, we will do our best to make the change or cancel the order.

After production starts

Once customisation or alteration has begun, the order cannot normally be cancelled, returned or exchanged. If the garment is faulty or the finished customisation does not match the approved order because of our error, we will put it right.

We will put it right

Is something faulty, damaged or incorrect?

If an item arrives damaged, develops a fault, is not as described or is not what you ordered, please contact us rather than sending it back without speaking to us first.

  • Tell us your order number and what has gone wrong.
  • Send photographs where practical — they often help us solve the problem more quickly.
  • We will explain the next step and arrange a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate.
  • When the problem is a fault or our mistake, we cover the reasonable cost of returning the goods.

Visible delivery damage? Please tell us within 48 hours if you can. This helps us raise the issue with the courier quickly, but it does not remove your legal rights if you contact us later.

Common questions

Frequently asked returns questions

Answers to the questions customers most often ask about sizing, exchanges, footwear, customised garments and refunds.

Yes. We make no returns-policy distinction between eligible plain items held in our warehouse and eligible plain items ordered from a supplier. The only practical difference is that a replacement may take longer if we need to order it in.
Yes. You may try a plain garment on as you would in a shop. Please keep it clean, do not wear it for work, and return it unwashed with its original tags and packaging. Take extra care around make-up, deodorant, pet hair and strong odours because marked items may no longer be resalable.
Try footwear indoors on a clean, dry surface. Please keep every label, insert and the original footwear box in good condition. Put that box inside another bag or box for the return; do not attach postage labels or tape directly to it.
Yes. Eligible plain sale items follow the same 30-day return and exchange promise. This does not apply to an item clearly sold as faulty where that specific fault was explained before purchase.
No. Once an item has been customised or altered for you, it cannot be returned because the wrong size was selected. If you are unsure, ask us about sizing, visit our showroom or order plain garments to check before approving customisation.
Yes. Contact us first, then bring the eligible item and your order details to Unit 19 Dalweb Industrial Estate, Gravel Lane, Banks, Southport, PR9 8DE. We are open Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.30pm.
We normally process a refund to the original payment method within five working days of receiving and checking the return. Banks and card providers can take additional time to show the credit in your account.
Contact us. The 30-day change-of-mind promise does not replace your rights when goods are faulty, not as described or not fit for their intended purpose. We will consider the circumstances and explain the appropriate repair, replacement or refund route.
