The Portwest FP42 is a retractable fall arrest block for work at height. It holds a 6m wire rope lifeline on a spring-based reel inside a protective housing.
The lifeline pays out slowly and retracts automatically, so it follows your movements as you work. An inertia brake mechanism is built into the reel. A swivel snap hook with a double safety lock connects the lifeline, and a fall indicator is included.
